Episode 15: Springs in the Security Field

Hello everyone.
Well, the Japanese Golden Week holidays in early May will soon be here. Have you decided how you’ll be spending your holidays?
Drive carefully if going by car.

Once again, let me introduce another use for springs in the security field.
Perhaps it’s difficult to imagine specifically how springs are used in security?
PIOLAX mainly supplies two types of security spring:

1. Springs for cash bags (seals bag closed)
2. Springs for container cars (seals container closed)

Once these “springs” are sealed, they cannot be unsealed, so they are useful for preventing theft.
Let me explain briefly how they work.

1. Springs for cash bags (seals bag closed)

Cash-bag springs are used extensively by businesses handling coins, such as banks, vending machines, racetracks, and security companies. The spring at the mouth of the bag acts as a sealing band, providing high security and safety.

The features of “spring” are as follows:

・Once sealed, the bag cannot be unsealed except by destroying the spring seal.

・Removing the spring does not require special tools (the spring can be removed by one-touch operation with only fingertip). Hence, operation efficiency can be improved.

・The spring material withstands low temperatures and is not damaged even in severe winters.

2. Springs for container cars (seals container closed)

Springs for container cars are used widely by the transportation industry. The spring at the handle of door acts as a sealing band, providing high security and safety.

The features of “spring” are as follows:

・Once sealed, cannot be unsealed without being torn off.

・Like cash-bag springs, no tools such as cutter or scissors are required (the spring can be removed by one-touch operation with only fingertip). Hence, operation efficiency can be improved.

・The spring can be used with a destination guideboard for convenience.

It’s surprising how these springs are used isn’t it?
My apologies for a mistake at the end of the last issue where I said “Next time, let me talk about sports and the spring (since the Olympics are to be held this year in Beijing, China)”. However, I have postponed this theme until the next time (just before the Olympics). Next time, I will surely talk about sports and the spring. Don’t miss it.

See you next time!
